You can report a maintenance issue in a public school.

To report a maintenance issue in a charter school, you must report it directly to the charter school.

Anonymous complaints are reviewed and addressed by New York City Public Schools when possible, but you won't be contacted for follow-up.

The following maintenance issues must be reported to the public school directly:

  • General building maintenance or repairs, including:
    • Broken fences
    • Broken locks
    • Graffiti
    • Lighting issues or outages
    • Broken water fountains
    • Broken windows
    • Uncollected trash
  • Lack of supplies
  • Weather issues
  • Buildings that are not accessible for people with disabilities
  • Noise complaints in a schoolyard (due to open gate at night)

To look up information for a public school, go to the School Finder page.
